General Purpose
Foresight Sports is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2023. The intern will must be currently enrolled in a ABET accredited engineering school and be in the San Diego, CA area.
The individual will assist our engineers in creating designs, drawings, bills of materials(BOMs), documentation and testing of new devices as well as test equipment.
The individual will work in a dynamic team environment interacting with other Mechanical Engineers as well as electrical, software, firmware, manufacturing, and service engineers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Creation and modification of custom parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings within the Solidworks CAD environment.
- Documenting the BOM, standard parts and work assembly instructions for design to be transferred to manufacturing.
- Building of prototype systems and documenting work instructions.
- Check designs and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability.
- Participate in and assist in mechanical team's design review.
- Assembly of multi-level electromechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies using a variety of hand tools.
- Assemble and disassemble test equipment as necessary.
- Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing of test failures for system level tests.
Requirements/Qualifications

- Studying / Concentrating on Mechanical Engineering
- Good Working Knowledge of basic engineering computer software.
- Basic understanding of BOM structure, creating parts drawings, and assemblies in Solidworks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of clearances, fits, and tolerances of mechanical parts.
- Candidate should have an interest in technology and golf.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Qualifications
- Must be actively enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar degree field
- Must complete their sophomore year in their major program of study prior to beginning the internship program.
- Must have and maintain a 2.5/4.0 GPA.
- This position is a 40 hours/week during the summer months; starting after May 1, but no later than June 19, and ending no later than September 1.
- This position is 100% on-site in the San Diego, CA area.
