Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive critical engineering and construction quality assurance, overseeing technical aspects of the Ashgabat NEC project. The successful candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree and expertise in areas such as Building Automation Systems, HVAC systems, power generation, and plumbing.
Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance by performing technical inspections of mechanical work, monitoring the contractor's quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications.
  • Support and assist OBO/Ashgabat in ensuring the completion of the project in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure that the the required contract work in accordance with the design documents is being performed.
  • Review engineering shop drawings and determine if the contractor has complied with the final design parameters.
  • Evaluate contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements, resolving conflicts, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Oversee the construction contractor's quality assurance and safety program.
  • Conduct onsite inspections to verify proper installation and execution of construction elements.
  • Monitor construction progress vis-a-vis the project schedule, submitting weekly progress reports with technical recommendations based on field inspections.
  • Interpret drawings in the mechanical discipline, coordinating with other disciplines as necessary, and identifying and addressing problems or non-compliance with design or contract specifications.
  • Perform technical inspections of the mechanical elements of the project.
  • Assess the need for interdisciplinary coordination, and monitor construction for design or contract compliance issues.
  • Prepare detailed construction reports outlining progress and identifying construction-related problems within the incumbent's area of expertise.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director/Construction Manager to evaluate contractor-proposed remedies and formulate effective solutions.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Holds a Final Secret, Interim Top Secret, or Final Top Secret clearance issued by Defense Security Services.
  • Extensive experience in technical inspections of mechanical elements in construction projects.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting design/construction drawings, design narratives, and calculations.
  • Must have an understanding of the principals of his/her discipline and how it fits in with other disciplines.
  • Specific experience in Building Automation Systems, HVAC systems, power generation, general plumbing, water/sewage treatment, and monitor controls and disconnects.
  • Must be able to review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Knowledge of U.S. standards for construction work and familiarity with acceptable products and procedures.
  • Must be willing to commit to a 48-month contract, with 50 hours per week of work.
  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
