Mechanical Engineer- Cooling Systems

We are looking for a bright and talentedMechanical Engineer- Cooling Systems that enjoys working within cross-functional teams and is passionate about developing the next generation of powertrain Cooling Systems. Based in metro Chicago, Navistar is a leading global manufacturer of trucks and buses and member of the Traton Group. Our culture is to do things in days, not months, with the goal of delivering superior levels of product performance to our customers. Periodic trips to New Carlisle, IN.
Responsibilities

• CAD Model and print creation/release in NX/Team Center
• Collaboration with the CAE group
• Creating Component and System Design Requirements Documents (DRD's)
• GD&T and Tolerance Stack Calculations
• Organizing and creating Bills Of Materials for large assemblies
• DFMEA and DVP&R creation and support in execution of APQP process
• 1D engineering calculations in Excel, VBA, and/or MATLab
• Support issue resolutions using rigorous problem-solving practices
• Create product build books for manufacturing and service

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

• Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

• PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience
• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

• Experience in truck and/or automotive design and development
• Experience with requirement documentation and system engineering
• Experience with Vehicle, Powertrain or Engine Cooling System design
• Design and layout experience using Unigraphics UG-NX2 or any CAD related modeling software
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects
• Familiarity with design quality tools including:
• Failure Modes Effects Analysis & DVP
• Design for Manufacturing
• Design for Assembly
• Basic Dimensional Management (GD&T, etc.)
• Statistical Tolerance Stack-up
• Problem solving skills such as 8D, 3 legged 5 Why's and statistical problem solving is a plus
