Job Description
Looking for a mechanical Assembler. The Assembler is responsible for producing highly engineered, custom built mobile material handling machinery for rail related markets by using mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic assembly techniques as well as welding, electrical wiring and hitching on overhead cranes and jibs.
In this role, the team member will assemble fabricated parts, components, or units at floor stations. They will test and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. They will use hand and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications. They will be required to identify units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary. Team members may assist less experienced team members with knowledge and expertise.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Read and follow standard work, BOM's, blueprints, routings, specifications and other diagrams/instructions in order to build and assemble parts and equipment in an accurate and timely fashion
Obtain necessary tools and equipment
Handle material, tools and equipment manually or with jib crane, performing own hitching as required
Follows piping diagrams or other instructions to connect hydraulic/pneumatic hosing or piping accurately and timely
Maintain high quality standards
Consistently maintains level of productivity as determined by management
Spray paint parts as required
Layout, cut and fit parts as required to weld in place
Prepare machinery for shipping
Rebuild machinery and clean, repair, disassemble, reassemble, and adjust machine as necessary
Wiring Principal Duties
Follow wiring diagrams/schematics to connect electrical cabling accurately and timely
Perform wiring sequence for point to point direct or harness wiring
Wire mounting panels and junction boxes per documentation/instructions
Create or re-wire harnesses and cables per documentation
General Duties
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Ability to fabricate small components
Complete production and quality assurance forms
Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions
Interface with engineering to accurately communicate information
Actively participate in continuous improvement activities or events as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
3-5+ years in custom build shop preferred
Technical Skills
Ability to read and understand blue prints
Ability to operate a computer to read and input data
Ability to operate hand tools and read measuring devices
Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics to complete standard work

WORKING CONDITIONS
Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend, work underneath equipment, reach above shoulders, and climb
Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products.
