Job Summary:

We have an opportunity for a MCL Quality- Lab Technician- Technical Team Member to be based in Columbus, GA. (onsite role)

This position will work closely with the quality department.

This is a Weekend Shift (Fri-Sun 7a – 7P)

Key Responsibilities:

Grainsize: (may include)

• Perform internal and external grainsize operations on parts.
• Follow blueprints, Work Instructions and GBMOP to mark locations accurately.
• Utilize different chemicals for the etching process.
• Prepare specimens by operating different equipment and polishing methods.
• Use So lumina and UGA for data recording.
• Perform grainsize readings on the microscope.

Mech Testing: (may include)

• Perform daily walk arounds to prior to testing.
• Receive-in and inspect testing specimens for accuracy.
• Sort priorities as needed.
• Operate multiple machines for Specimen testing.
• Comply with all training required, including Quality procedures as well as MCL Manuals and Standard Work.
• Log testing data in UGA
• Maintain required log books.

Lab Tech:

• Section (cutting) and preparing the specimen for Metallurgy review.
• Prepare specimens by operating different equipment for multiple mounting and polishing methods.
• Utilize different chemicals for the etching process.
• Use multiple machines to perform various metallurgical tests on the specimens.
• Order supplies and chemicals for testing
• Grainsize:
• Perform internal and external grainsize operations on parts.
• Follow blueprints, Work Instructions and GBMOP to mark locations accurately.
• Utilize different chemicals for the etching process.
• Prepare specimens by operating different equipment and polishing methods.
• Use So lumina and UGA for data recording.
• Perform grainsize readings on the microscope.

Chem Handler/ Lube:

• Perform daily Chemical Titrations and make chemical additions.
• Remaking Chemical tanks- Chem mill and etch lines.
• Perform glass panels dips, weighting, and adjusting glass.
• Adjusting graphite on the shop floor
• Chemical Handling and safety
• Maintaining inventory and ordering lab equipment and chemicals

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years’ experience in quality or operations/aerospace manufacturing environment. 
• Two years’ experience in machining.
• Experience with Microsoft office

Additional Information:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
