JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certified elementary teacher with masters degree and/or significant experience coursework in the appropriate area.
2. Experience and training in district approved instructional practices preferred (examples: Reading Recovery, Math Advantage, Math Recovery)
3. Knowledge and experience in instructional practices and the content needed for the position.
4. Willingness to receive further training in district approved instructional practices.
5. Strong organizational skills, discreet judgment, able to honor confidentiality.
6. Strong technology skills with familiarity of both Google and Microsoft products.
7. Excellent problem solving skills.
8. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
9. Ability to work with the adult learner effectively.
10. Abe to provide professional development in multiple settings.
11. Ability to provide personal transportation to attend work related training and errands..
12. Successful background check suitable to the Board of Education.
REPORTS TO: Principal(s)
JOB GOAL: To support at the building level, the implementation of best instructional practices across Ozark schools through job-embedded professional development.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide instructional support to classroom teachers
2. Collaborate with staff to improve instruction, learning and interventions
3. Work cooperatively with other Instructional Coaches across the district
4. Work to maintain and analyze data for schools, instructional teams, and classrooms
5. Provide content leadership
6. Seek professional development for growth as an instructional leader
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, and sit for periods of time.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:200 days as per School Board Policy GDBDA
TYPE OF POSITION: Exempt
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the building principal

- Observe and coach teachers in district approved instructional practices
- Model lessons using effective instructional strategies
- Provide sustained mentorship for teachers
- Assist teachers with intervention strategies for use with students
- Work with students in a variety of settings and as needed according to the building principal
2. Collaborate with staff to improve instruction, learning and interventions
- Meet with groups of teachers to improve learning across the district
- Meet regularly with building-level administrative teams to report progress and plan next steps
- Communicate with building and district administration to plan and implement effective coaching practices and to improve district approved instructional practices
- Intervene with students to try new methods/model instructional strategies for classroom teachers
3. Work cooperatively with other Instructional Coaches across the district
- Network regularly with other Instructional Coaches to develop and implement effective coaching practices
4. Work to maintain and analyze data for schools, instructional teams, and classrooms
- Assist the principal(s) in furthering the professional learning community
- Identify needs and make recommendations for improvement based on building and district data
- Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention, extension and support services
5. Provide content leadership
- Research and make recommendations for appropriate instructional materials and resources
- Model instructional strategies within classrooms and in professional development sessions
6. Seek professional development for growth as an instructional leader
- Attend local, state and other professional growth opportunities as approved
- Produce, perform and participate in district professional development activities
