Materials & Supply Chain Manager

This position will support corporate operations based in Huntington Beach, CA, as well as operations in Cedartown, GA and Salt Lake City, UT.

Position Scope:

The Materials & Supply Chain Manager is a key business partner responsible for corporate-wide procurement, vendor relationship management, demand flow management, inventory planning and management, and materials systems improvement. Reporting into Corporate you will leverage buying to optimize cost, supply, and quality of key materials while managing inventory investment and Supply Chain effectiveness. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, and Estimating teams to achieve effective materials management in a project engineered-to-order environment while ensuring materials cost data integrity in support of accurate estimating efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage materials sourcing, procurement, inventory control, and logistics for multi-site (Georgia & Utah) manufacturing operations, advise and lead on process and cost improvement.
• Lead material requirements planning and sourcing in support of Sales, Project Management and Operations teams to ensure delivery commitments are met.
• Establish and maintain data integrity and accuracy throughout integrated ERP / Inventory system for materials
• Lead and develop buyer at Cedartown and Salt Lake City manufacturing sites
• Provide support to production scheduling for material flow to meet production requirements
• Negotiate contracts with vendors and set aggressive targets for cost reduction of materials and supplies
• Manage receiving process and raw material storage
• Recommend optimal transportation sources and services
• Coordinate quarterly / annual physical inventory counts
• Optimize just in time inventory to improve days on hand while maintaining critical production and delivery schedules
• Minimize scrap costs through careful management of custom length steel use
• Support Engineering with new product development sourcing needs and phase in / phase out of inventory
• Lead on cross-functional teams to meet company improvement objectives
• Budgeting & forecasting for materials and supplies costs and department staffing

SUPERVISORY:

This position will oversee Buyer/Planners at Advance's Cedartown and Salt Lake City Plants as well as inventory control and receiving operations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Production Operations & Management (preferred), Engineering, or Business Administration. MBA or APICS certification a plus

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in materials, supply-chain, or procurement management within a manufacturing company including 3 years of leadership experience
• Proficiency with tier-one ERP systems (SAP, Infor, Oracle), specifically related to procurement, demand forecasting, MRP, and related inventory management systems
• Experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment with engineered-to-order business model (preferred)

REQUIRED OUTSIDE TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS FOR THIS POSITION: Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
