Scope:
The Materials Specialist uses experience, resources, analytical and quantitative methods to develop, implement, and improve Supply Chain processes as it relates to Inventory and its availability across Victaulic's regions and facilities. They will help develop new and creative tools for processes, with the goal of improving decision-making, reporting, and Supply Chain performance. The Materials Specialist will research industry best practices, lead and actively participate in meetings, and communicate Supply Chain goals and results to cross-functional teams. The Materials Specialist is responsible to identify, lead, and contribute to cross-functional process improvements both within Victaulic as well as with our suppliers and customers. Global performance is supported through collaboration and participation on projects with Operations and Supply Chain personnel around the world. They are responsible for ensuring all required plans, processes, data, and inventory is purchased, produced and stocked to support business growth.
Responsibilities:
- Compile periodic status and performance reports, including metrics, issues, and timeline updates. Lead meetings as required and distribute reports to appropriate stakeholders. Ensure data accuracy and manage timely and appropriate distribution. Work with the recipients of these documents regularly to continually improve and enhance their utility.
- Provide Materials support for projects, business opportunities, and proposals. Evaluate and ensure accuracy of all input data, and the validity of the analyses completed and conclusions drawn. Summarize data and organize recommendations in a clear, professional format. Ensure that system data, processes developed, and material replenishment plans support the objectives.
- Demonstrate measurable improvements to Inventory Availability and Inventory turns through contributions to process improvements and development of improved tools and techniques.
- Exercise appropriate tools of Project Management including communicated timelines, goals and objectives, team meetings and report-outs, metrics, documentation, and follow-up. Coordinate resolution of discrepancies and successful launch of processes within time requirements.
- Participate in benchmarking and identifying best-practices globally. Assist in documentation of standard work and training.
- Perform Planning and Buying responsibilities for assigned suppliers as needed. Perform all tactical functions including PO release, maintenance, issue resolution, expediting, inventory level decisions, etc.
- Complete or coordinate other related projects and analyses as assigned.
Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Personal Attributes):
- Minimum B.S/B.A. in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field required
- 5 years' experience in Purchasing, Planning and/or Inventory Management required.
- In-depth knowledge of ERP/MRP systems required (BPCS or M3 preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Must be responsible, reliable, and self-motivated. Drive to improve all processes and performance is essential.
- Demonstrated ability in process improvement, metric development, and problem-solving is required.
- Good oral and written communication skills required with attention to details critical.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management required.
- Occasional evening or weekend communication with overseas suppliers and/or global team members required.
- Travel up to 10%.
