Company Overview:Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. or "SIA", located in Lafayette, Indiana, is the only Subaru vehicle manufacturing facility outside of Japan. Position Overview: The Material Logistics Specialist is responsible for carrying out activities related to logistics, supply chain engineering and cost planning, maintenance of cost and process data while also considering impact to other related supply chain activities (inventory, packaging, supplier, warehouse etc.).
Outline of duties:
  • Identifying the important logistics needs that include the up-keeping programs, service information, safeguarding plans, and personnel requirements.
  • Determining the operation betterment and price diminution logistics possibilities
  • Designing central performance indexes, intergroup investigation equipment, and process metrics for the advancement of the corporate units
  • Ascertaining the logistics process support demands with the help of the reassessing procedures of contractual involvements, client stipulations, and other pertinent data.
  • Giving appropriate responses to the consumers related to logistics processes.
  • Sustaining and enhancing the expenditure plans, predictions, and cost calculations
  • Setting up and authorizing the records on data organizing systems, information reporting software applications, or self-activating logistics systems
  • Assessing the potency of the future and current logistical activities
  • Instructing the jobs and roles of the logistics examination experts, including the professionals associated with other logistics work.
  • With a view to ensure competent and hard-hitting support of system manufacturing facilities, equipment, services, and products, rendering efficient logistics information and technologies.
  • Creating various restrictions for material-handling, equipment, facility layouts, and tools systems
  • Directing logistics examinations and surveys that include supply chain analyses, time studies, flow path analyses, zero base analyses, network analyses, and rate analyses.
  • Consulting with tour service departments and operative staff for the purpose of determining service rendering, expenditure reduction, and efficiency betterment prospects
  • Arranging the functional procedures by modernizing and recognizing the regular functional processes and corporate regulations
  • Utilizing the logistics modeling methods for the purpose of identifying the various problems of logistics operation related to structure, serviceable process enhancement, and facility arrangement.
  • Developing the distribution and plant area skillfulness by effectively measuring the use of intelligent conveyor technologies, Internet based storage maintenance applications, and stock observance techniques
  • Planning the all-embracing distributing chains that have the potential to decrease the environmental tolls and other associated encroachments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant automotive experience with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word.
  • Excellent written & oral communication - strong organization skills - ability to manage multiple projects/tasks - strong analytical & problem-solving ability.
  • Proven people skills & ability to work with multiple departments on project.
  • Ability to travel domestic (minial travel requirements).
  • Must be able to work off - shift, weekends & overtime as required to support project work.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics Engineering or Engineering technologies and 2+ years of related experience.
  • Related work experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • ISO / Lean principles process management
  • Experience with engineering analytics and cost planning.
  • Experience building data toward long term cost planning.
  • Experience supporting budgeting process.
