Material Take-Off Specialist 

JOB SUMMARY:

Generate bill of materials for projects utilizing construction drawings. Audit pre-determined material lists for accuracy.  Work closely with estimators, and other internal workflow personnel to assist in continuous developments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1. Input data supporting parts lists, steel orders, truss orders, special order requests and requests for other materials as required to generate satisfactory material kits.  
2. Detailed auditing of pre-determined material list ensuring high level accuracy of the BOM
3. Implement material standards and value adds through team collaboration.
4. Assist with BOM inventory accountability and facilitate resolution of material issues as they occur. 
5. Work closely with the project manager and purchasing department to coordinate the procurement and details of long lead time material.  
6. Review and investigate issues to determine the reason for shortages or surpluses, working closely with the project manager and contractor sales consultant. 
7. Assist in the development and drafting of standard detail drawings and other projects as necessitated. 
8. Provide MTO guidance to Sales, Drafting, Estimating, SmartBuild team and Operations. 
9. Become familiar with the building engineering requirements and perform validations while auditing contract details.
10. Demonstrate the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Associates degree in Construction Management or Drafting/Design or 3-4 years’ experience in construction of post frame buildings, with college level math skills
• Must have experience with “Windows” based computer software and Microsoft applications
• Must be willing to learn BG Supply software and applications

• Must be a quick learner and a problem solver with the ability to make decisions under pressure.

• Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD
