Job Summary

The Material Planner will play a crucial role in our organization, overseeing the material planning process and spearheading the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software system. This role will assist in optimizing the company’s inventory and production process, as well as oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. They will be able to identify opportunities for improvement and work with the team to implement changes.

 

This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, materials planning, and ERP/MRP systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or production environment, be a strategic thinker, excellent communicator, and possess the ability to collaborate across various departments to ensure seamless integration of the new software.

 

Accountability and Duties

Material Planning

  • Create and maintain an effective material planning strategy to optimize inventory levels, ensuring on-time availability of raw materials and components for production.
  • Analyze demand forecasts, sales trends, and production schedules to develop accurate material requirements and procurement plans.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely sourcing of materials while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts and excess inventory, minimizing carrying costs.

ERP/MRP Implementation

    • Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive implementation plan, including timelines, milestones, and training strategies for employees.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify system requirements to configure the software to meet business needs.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity during the migration of existing data to the new system.

    Process Improvement

      • Identify areas for process improvement within the material planning and procurement functions.
      • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
      • Continuously review and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve material planning and inventory management processes.

      Cross-Functional Collaboration

        • Collaborate with production, sales, and finance teams to align material planning with production schedules and sales forecasts.
        • Foster a collaborative environment to promote teamwork and achieve company-wide objectives.


        Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

        • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
        • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
        • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their implementation.
        • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
        • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work with cross-functional teams.
        • Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and integrity.
        • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

         

        Required Education and Experience:

        • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or related field required.
        • 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position.
