The Material Handlers are a crew of skilled trade personnel, responsible for inventory of all purchased, manufactured and Government material.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs preventative maintenance on operating equipment. Understands storage locations inside and outside. Fills requisitions and moves material to assigned areas. Understands paperwork process, paper flows to system completely.
- Properly disposing of boxes. Identifies plates, structural, pipe sizes and type. Performs stock inquiries using barcode guns. Maintains inventory and locates material accurately, including audit and cycle counts.
- Operates all forklifts. Operates 30-ton tuning forks. Operates carry deck cranes. Completes material put away using a barcode gun. Operates front-end loaders and articulating pay loaders.
- Identifies and accurately labels age sensitive material. Safely operates powered floor sweeper in the warehouse.
- Understands safe working loads of slings, knows what chain slings ¼ to ½, cables 3/16 to 2 and anchor shackles 3/16 to 4 strengths are for lifting. Rigs loads safely (50-tons and above) for setting or moving equipment without damage, using spreader bars and sling lifts. Issues material using bar code guns. Performs bin-to-bin transfers using bar code guns.
- Operates rubber tire cranes. Operates crawler cranes.
Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work all shifts as needed.
- A shift: Monday thru Thursday 5:00 am to 3:00 pm
- B shift: Monday thru Thursday 4:00 pm to 2:00 am
- C shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 5:00 am to 5:00 pm - * Must be 18 years of age.
* Must be a U.S. citizen
* Must be able to work at heights.
* Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
* Must be available to work all shifts as required.
* Must be able to lift 50lbs. - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Licensed and/or trainable to operate a powered forklift including order pickers.
* Knows and understands the standard hand signal for controlling cranes. - SKILLS:
* Understands and performs daily preventative maintenance on operating equipment.
* A good candidate is able to distinguish the weight of steel plates (lbs./sq.) according to thickness 1/32 to 2".
