1St Material Handler / Kitting Team Member

Job Summary

“Kits” work orders to prepare them for welding. Key contributor to building efficiencies throughout the shop floor. Maintains inventory by counting, labeling, and locating Work in Progress and Finish Goods Inventory. Works directly with shop floor to keep product flowing in and out of work centers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Gathers all necessary components for welding jobs, maintaining accurate counts and identification.

· Moves jobs throughout the production floor to increase operational flow.

· Works with production personnel to ensure work is ready and moved in a timely manner.

· Helps to identify areas for improvement in workflow.

· Maintains accurate count of WIP/FG materials.

· Maintains accurate on hand inventories of “Stock” components. Reports discrepancies to team leader

· Moves items to appropriate areas of WIP or FG.

· May operate lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments to storage or work area.

· Use lift truck to move in process materials from department to department within the production areas.

· Help in other areas of the department as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Must have a working knowledge of a metal fabrication/shop floor.

· Must be able to work well with others and assist others cooperatively and courteously.

· Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.

· Must be able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.

· Must have knowledge of English, including proper use of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style.

· Must demonstrate competency with computers and Microsoft Excel.

· Must be able to work independently and carry out assignments to completion with minimum instruction and adhere to established routines and practices.

· Must have an excellent work ethic and superior attendance.
