Job Title: Material Handler

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Effective Date: January 1, 2024

Position Type:

• Full Time.
• Expected 45 hours per week (Monday-Saturday) with additional overtime if required by supervisor.

Supervisor(s): Plant Manager

Salary: Starting at $17 per hour.

Summary: Load and unload agricultural chemicals/fertilizers and bulk dry fertilizers, into or from rail cars and trucks using material moving equipment. Will need to operate heavy equipment (e.g. front-end wheel loader, forklift, etc.) to load and unload trucks. Will perform a variety of other tasks relating to shipment of products.

Essential Job Functions:

• Loading trucks with bulk liquid agricultural chemicals/fertilizers.
• Using front-end loader to load trucks with bulk dry fertilizers.
• Unloading hopper and tank railcars.
• Operating a forklift.
• Recording deliveries and shipments.
• Communicating with supervisors and other company employees.
• Checking paperwork for accuracy.
• Cleaning machinery and equipment.
• Monitoring machinery and equipment, detecting problems when they arise.
• Comply with DOT regulations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to effectively communicate with others.
• Ability to use various hand and power tools.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Ability to read and write English.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50lbs of hoses/equipment to hip level.
• Ability to lift 25lbs of parts/equipment to parts shelves overhead.
• Climbing ladders and stairs.

Travel:

• This position does not require any overnight travel.

Required Education/Experience:

• There is no required level of education.
• Previous experience with a front-end loader and forklift are preferred but not required.
