Material Handler For 12 Hour Days 3.5 Days/Week

Job Summary:

The Material Handler transports required materials to and from all the machines in the department. The Material Handler is required to move bales of up to 350 lbs of fiber, using a bale truck or forklift. The Material Handler may have to retrieve the bales from the picker house and is required to bring rolls of base fabric to the machines. The Material Handler is responsible for putting the rolls away when the operation is completed. The Material Handler may need to use hand trucks to move material from one workstation to another. The Material handler is responsible for removing waste from the department and taking it to the compactor. The Material Handler may be required to help clean the machinery in the department and assist machine operators on certain styles that require two people to run.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Movement of raw material into production.
• Movement of rolls of work-in-process goods from one workstation to another, as needed.
• Assist machine operator as needed.
• Record all information needed on appropriate paperwork and/or computer (ie. oz./yard, thickness, width, etc.)
• Clean work area and machines as assigned.
• Adhere to all safety rules and safe work practices at all times.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

The positions require frequent standing and walking for up to 12 hours a day, frequent lifting, twisting, kneeling and bending. Frequent lifting of 10 to 75 lbs (with some assistance). Must have fine motor skills and manual dexterity along with good vision and be able to distinguish color variations.
