Master Utility Control Consultant
Position Type: Contract (3-month assignment).
Position Location: Houston, TX (Flexible on office & location as there are multiple to work from)
Position Pay: Open to Market
Responsibilities:
- This person will have a strong power generation background.
- Knowledge in design of boilers (solid fuel, natural gas, and fuel oil-fired), heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), gas turbines, steam turbines, cooling towers, control valve sizing/selection, as well as installation and operational problem solving.
- Must have experience in constructing control algorithm using SAMA drawing.
- Experienced with power plant performance testing utilizing ASME PTC test codes (PTC 4, PTC4.4, PTC 6, PTC 46, PTC 19.1, PTC 19.5, PTC 22, and other referenced codes).
- Experience in turbine controls and trips controls
- Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Major Task - Develop Master Plant Controls narratives for CHP plant that encompasses:
- 2 x 1 CHP Combined Cycle plant
- 2 – Siemens SGT700 CTGs
- 2 – Victory HRSGs, single pressure level, nom 1050 psig/900 F
- 2 – Victory supplied John Zinc duct burner systems
- 1 – Siemens Auto Extraction STG with surface condenser
- Generator breakers
- Step-up transformers
- Plant aux transformers
- Utility Interconnections
- Island Mode Operation
- Generator Loading configurations.
- Load Following (CTG, STG)
- Inlet Pressure Control
- Operator Manual Set Points
- Duct Firing (STG Load, HPS, IPS Inputs)
- System Start-up (At least cold, but maybe warm and hot?)
- Normal system shut-down and individual units.
- System Trips (total plant and individual units)
- Steam bypasses (HP to IP, and IP to condenser
- Sky Valves (system start-up and trips)
- Develop alarms and trip points for above.
- Review Logic diagrams for DHC and CHP
- Review and develop missing alarm/trip set points.
- Assist with review/mark-up of P&IDs including TDP-1 modifications.
- Assist with review/edits of System Descriptions
- Complete sections that are incomplete (Est. number TBD)
- Complete tables of set-points (Est. number TDB)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Power plant controls engineer with experience in combined cycle power and/or combined heat and power utilizing CTGs, Fired HRSGs, and Auto Extraction STGs.
- Experience with development of plant Master Controls narratives and SAMA logic diagrams.
- Experience with development of alarm and trip set points for generation equipment and related BOP systems.
