Department Information
The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center-Atlanta is part of a national network of 44 centers throughout the country funded by the Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency to help grow and strengthen Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs). MBDA Center-Atlanta is operated through the Enterprise Innovation Institute, a unit of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Our mission is to help MBEs experience significant growth, create and retain jobs, and become sustainable thereby having an overall positive economic impact on communities and the nation.

Job Summary

Administers education and community outreach programs within an academic unit or complex. Includes coordination of marketing, communications and event management in support of specific unit programs which are generally narrow to moderate in size and scope. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Unit administration, faculty and staff; students, donors and external community representatives. This position typically will advise and counsel: Unit administration. This position will supervise: Assigned Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Plan and direct implementation of program marketing initiatives including design and production of marketing materials
Job Duty 2 -
Manage or coordinate events, symposia and conferences including evaluation/selection of venues and services, sponsor and volunteer relations and budgeting
Job Duty 3 -
Act as liaison between unit and various groups, both on and off campus, regarding outreach and educational activities
Job Duty 4 -
Participate in funds solicitations efforts on behalf of the unit
Job Duty 5 -
Serve on committees, institutes and other groups
Job Duty 6 -
Organize and supervise the activities of the Marketing & Events staff, monitor performance and provide development opportunities
Job Duty 7 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Two to three years of job-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires a working knowledge of marketing and event management within an academic arena. Must be able to interact with varying organizations and levels involving issues and schedules. Written and spoken communications skills and supervisory skills are also required as is the use of office and specialized computer applications.

Salary range: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00

Location: Hybrid (Atlanta, GA)

Job grade: A8

This is supervisory position.
This position does not have financial responsibilities.
No, this position will not be required to drive.
This role is not considered a position of trust.
This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card).
This position will not travel
This position does not require security clearance.

oFaculty: accrual 14 hours a month (21 days per year, up to 45 days may be carried over at year-end

oStaff: Less than 5 years: 15 days

§Sick time accrual 8 hours a month (8 days per year, do not expire at year-end)

§10 paid national holidays (including Juneteenth) plus Thanksgiving includes off Thursday and Friday, and there is entire week of winter break with a campus shut down which includes 5 business days off paid- depending on calendar year might have Christmas or New Year included, if not, those paid holidays as well) this does not count against vacation time.

§After 6 months of full-time employment, eligible for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

§After 12 months of full-time employment eligible for Staff Tuition Reimbursement Assistance Program (STRAP)
