Shalom Spirituality Center seeks a full-time (30 hours/week) Marketing Assistant to collaboratively plan, develop, and implement communication and marketing strategies to support Shalom Spirituality Center and its mission and ministry. Key responsibilities include supporting the organization and its programs, digital marketing, and content creation.
Qualified candidates will have at least 1-2 years of experience in Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field and an excellent working knowledge of various social media platforms, including MailChimp and Canva. Must have excellent writing, verbal communication, and proofreading skills. This position offers full benefits, including a 401k match. Hours will be flexible and may include occasional weekends.
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION:Marketing Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Shalom Spirituality Center
RESPONSIBLE TO: Mission and Ministry Director
Position Summary: Understand and further the mission and values of Shalom Spirituality Center.
Assists with the on-going marketing and public relations as directed by the Marketing Director to expand awareness of Shalom Spirituality Center and to promote its services and mission.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with on-going public relations including print media, website, social media, community, and business relations to publicize events, programs and retreats at Shalom.
- Assists with the preparation and release of publicity consistent with Shalom’s mission while maintaining positive media relations.
- Assists with developing and implementing marketing strategies for existing and new services.
4. Networks and collaborates with area organizations, archdiocesan contacts, interfaith groups, campus ministers, chamber, funeral home directors, OSF community, etc. by phone, email or in person under the direction of the Marketing Director.
5. Takes photos of events at Shalom for publicity as needed.
6. Assists with the design and distribution of brochures, newsletters, and other collateral
Materials using Adobe Suite, Canva, and Mail Chimp.
7. Attend staff meetings and assist with or plan special marketing and PR Events.
8. Provide assistance with technology support with AV and computer problems.
9. In-House presence at Shalom to enhance working relationships and assist with groups and programming.
10. Assist with evening programs as necessary.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Degree of Supervision: Employee works under general supervision and follows established practices in performing the majority of duties. Makes decisions when general instructions, established methods and defined precedents indicate action to be taken but refers unusual problems to supervisor.
Level of Interpersonal Skills Required: Above average. Social sensitivity and ability to communicate effectively.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Requirements: Normal or routine. Analytical ability is required
in order to gather and interpret data but in situations where the problems are normal or
routine. Analysis or interpretation is based primarily on factual data where established
methods or procedures can be followed. While precedents are available, Shalom management values input with problem solving.
Qualifications:
Education: Training and experience in Marketing
One to two years’ experience preferred.
Experience in graphic design and Media Promotion. Proficient using Adobe Suite, Canva, social media platforms and traffic promotions. Familiar with Word Press and WooCommerce functionality.
Physical Exertion: intermittent sitting, standing, walking, moderate physical strain and
lifting.
Visual Attention: Work is generally performed under desirable conditions; however, there may be
periods of time when the flow of work and character of duties require intense mental and
visual concentration. For example, tight schedules of deadlines must be met, or frequent
interruptions or distractions may be present.
