Summary of Position:
As a key member of the sales team, the Market Manager will assume a strategic role in the profitable sales growth of the company. The Market Manager will have primary day to day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and tracking all commercial Food Service sales related activities within the defined territory. Commercial foodservice operators include, but are not limited to, independent restaurants, local and regional chains & emerging chains. Also working with the Broker’s Non-Commercial RAM’s, and Military Team is the responsibility of the Market Manager. This position collaborates heavily with the other members of the geographic team including the Market Director, Non-Commercial Market Manager and K-12 Manager. Important to the success of this role is to manage and build distributor relationships, provide direction and guidance to and through the broker network, making key account sales calls, and attending trade shows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sales plan to achieve assigned sales volume goals
- Achieve objectives through effective planning, setting sales goals, analyzing data on past performance, and projecting future performance
- Day to day management of all assigned distributors, broker sales force, Platinum Accounts, and target accounts
- Work harmoniously with the following broker teams:
- Field Sales Team / Emerging Chains
- Chain Team o Non-Commercial RAM’s (Regional Account Managers)
- Military Team
- Collaborate with Non-Commercial & K-12 Market Managers to achieve mutual goals
- Manage trade budget by negotiating local distributor programs
- Identify and pursue new target accounts
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen key account relationships
- Utilize insights and market intelligence to help identify / create market opportunities
- Successful sell in of new item offerings to distributors and key end users
- Product training to include distributor and broker sales force
- Meet minimum sales call requirements as planned
Position Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years progressive Foodservice sales experience, to include account management
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
- Manufacturer sales experience preferred but not required
- Culinary experience preferred but not required
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Strong thought-leadership, team management, and coaching skills
- Functional competencies: selling, negotiating, financial management, inventory management, leveraging insights, listening & time management
- Must demonstrate sales management experience of multiple product categories and customers
- Must be able to establish and maintain strong internal and external working relationships
- Proficient in PC tools and applications such as Microsoft Office and Salesforce
- Able to carry/lift up to 40 lbs. and setup displays for food shows
- Able and willing to work occasional weekends as territory and business needs dictate
- Able to travel via car or airplane
- Minimum 50% overnight travel
- Valid driver’s license, drug test and background check
- Prefer candidate lives in the Dallas, Texas area
