Our goal at SeaQuest is to ensure guests have a one-of-a-kind experience interacting with animals from all over the world. SeaQuest is looking for a Husbandry Lead for our Marine Team who will enhance the guest experience by creating a warm, inviting, and energetic environment throughout the aquarium. The Marine Husbandry Lead is responsible for ensuring all systems, equipment, and facilities operate at the highest standards relative to water quality, animal health, and facility maintenance. As a Husbandry Lead, you will oversee all facilities planning, development, and management aspects, including the Maintenance programs and Life Support systems. In addition, you will be responsible for coaching Team Members to better serve guests and animals in accordance with SeaQuest standard operating procedures. Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the Marine department’s daily operations to ensure that the team is following the best practices for animal care, safety, and facility maintenance.
  • Plan, organize, and assist in the management of husbandry Team Members activities.
  • Implement and follow procedures to ensure equipment is operating at the highest standards to maintain the health of our marine animals.
  • Assist with field trips.
  • Communicate department updates to the team as needed in the absence of the department manager.
  • Must be flexible and understand that your job duties may change from time to time and that you may be asked to help in other areas.
Requirements:

Marine Husbandry Lead Requirements:
  • Experience managing with comparable mechanical complexity and operating budgets.
  • Technical facilities management expertise as it relates to building mechanical systems.
  • At least two years of hands-on experience working with a saltwater aquarium and invertebrates.
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience successfully managing a team.
  • Demonstrate a high level of organization in the workplace.
  • Be a strong self-motivator.
  • Effectively communicate information verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Functionally literate in all aspects of systems, physical plant operation, and maintenance, including thorough knowledge of pumps, chilled water systems, bioreactors, etc.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Education:
  • A degree in a related field is preferred but not necessary.
Schedule:
  • Full-time.
  • Monday-Friday.
  • Weekends.
  • Holidays.
