The Marine Mechanic requires you to diagnose, repair and maintain marine steering and hydraulic systems, engine room equipment, pumps, clutches and related mechanical systems.
- Inspect and service diesel engines within compliance of company, federal, and industry standards
- Diagnose malfunctions in diesel engines, fuel systems, and other issues related to the vessel mechanical system
- Repair, replace or rebuild our diesel engine components as needed
- Efficiently operate equipment including measuring instruments, precision machines, hand tools, and material handling equipment, i.e. forklifts, cranes and overhead hoists
- Communicate technical information, job briefing information, job procedure recommendations and other work-related information with others verbally, through writing, telephone, radio, and etc
- Read and interpret information from diagrams, schematics, graphs and charts, and input into a computer if needed
- Ensure all equipment or materials are available and ready for use as needed
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and efficiently handle controversy
- Ensure compliance with all maritimerules and regulations for safety, operations and USCG regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Experience with Cummins, John Deer, Detroit Diesel engines and Twin Disc Clutches most helpful.
