The Manufacturing Technician inspects, diagnoses and repairs vehicles in a live, moving production line, high-speed environment. Technicians work in tandem with paint to correct and contain any quality defects on assembly line vehicles. They work cross-functionally with various upstream production and engineering departments, maintenance teams, and suppliers. The purpose of the technician is to minimize the amount of cars that are sent to End of Line repair for rectification, yielding a higher results and efficiency for Tesla.
- Operate in the ‘inspect, diagnose and repair’ mindset
- Guide production teams to properly disposition parts as good for use, needs repair, or scrap
- Communicate emerging and trending quality issues to prevent larger impact to the line to IQT and PAINT leadership through ‘walk back’ or ‘line stop’ activities
- Ensure defects are contained from reoccurring (IE - robust countermeasures are implemented)
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support investigation, containment and execution for strategic quality issues
- Coach and train to paint associates regarding inline quality, repair and rectification
- Tag relief for Production Associates during their breaks and lunches to ensure production is met
- Ability to visually detect defects and repair in fast paced environment and rate of EOL conveyors
- Ability to understand and determine at minimum basic root cause for defects to prevent reoccurrence for paint controllable defects
- Ability to feedback defects and defect trends to Inline Quality and paint leadership teams
- Ability to establish first line of defense for immediate containment activities (i.e. operator retrain, 100% inline repair, etc.)
- Ability to have strong personable skills in verbal and written communication as well as influence
- Ability to use electronic tools to document, communicate and resolve quality issues (IE - EMES, MOS, electronic inspection applications, matter most, etc.)
- Must have written and language command of English language

$28.75 - $54.44/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
