Position Overview: The Manufacturing Production Scheduler plays a crucial role in coordinating production schedules to optimize manufacturing operations, meet customer demand, and ensure efficient utilization of resources. This position involves planning and scheduling production activities, monitoring workflow, and adjusting schedules as needed to maintain production targets and delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with production managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to prioritize production activities and allocate resources effectively.
- Utilize production planning software or tools to create feasible and balanced schedules that optimize equipment and labor utilization.
- Capacity Planning:
- Assess production capacity and constraints to ensure schedules are aligned with available resources, equipment capabilities, and workforce availability.
- Identify potential bottlenecks or resource shortages and proactively address them to minimize disruptions to production schedules.
- Material Coordination:
- Work closely with procurement and logistics teams to coordinate the timely delivery of raw materials, components, and supplies needed for production.
- Monitor inventory levels and consumption rates to ensure adequate stock availability to support production schedules.
- Schedule Adherence and Monitoring:
- Monitor production progress and adherence to schedule milestones, identifying deviations and taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Communicate schedule changes or updates to relevant stakeholders and departments to ensure alignment and minimize disruptions.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and initiatives aimed at optimizing production processes, reducing lead times, and improving overall operational performance.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of production schedules, changes, and related documentation.
- Generate reports on production performance, schedule adherence, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing operations.
- Proficiency in production planning software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MRP systems).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating schedule changes effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in production scheduling.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
