Role Summary/Purpose
The employee in this role will be required to perform each of the tasks below in a safe and timely manner.
Essential Responsibilities
- Start machines and observe mechanical operations to determine and detect problems
- Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures
- Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, vacuums or other equipment
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
- Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble equipment
- Measure, cut and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools
- Clean work area and wash parts
- Interpret electrical schematics and machine drawings
- Interface with all levels of employees, and make and keep commitments
- Performs basic SAP transactions
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions
- Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary
- Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Successful completion of Electricity 1 coursework or equivalent
- Boiler Operator Certified or willing and able to obtain boiler license within 6 months of accepting position
- Must have three years in maintenance role or equivalent experience
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge of material control concepts
- Electrical or Mechanical Associates degree
- Boiler Operators license
- Master Electricians license
- Good safety, attendance and performance record
- Able to do shop math and use standard measuring instruments
- Has mechanical aptitude
- Has analytical troubleshooting ability
- Work with minimal supervision
- High degree of safety knowledge in the area
