Description
Scope/Purpose of the Position
The Maintenance technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the production equipment by using quick in-depth troubleshooting and preventive maintenance while maintaining the highest safety, quality, GMP standards.
Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions
• Properly troubleshoot and repair all facilities and production equipment on site
• Make all necessary machinery and equipment adjustments
• Perform all tasks and duties necessary for efficient start-ups, daily operation, change-over, and shut-downs
• Participate or complete the installation and training on new machinery
• Perform preventative and repair equipment on production equipment, heating and cooling systems, ingredients handling systems and plumbing systems; also, office and plant facilities
• Utilize the CMMS (Manager Plus) system for creating, updating, and completing work orders
• Start machines and equipment to test operation during and following repair
• Record preventative maintenance tasks and work orders in a timely manner
• Complete work orders as required and respond to all maintenance calls in a timely manner
• Work with other departments on root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to help drive efficiency and yield
• Work directly with machine operators and production supervisors to resolve mechanical issues that arise during shifts/production
• Identify and communicate any additional preventative maintenance required on machinery as needed
• Inventory spare parts and report usage; assist in determining min/max amounts, report parts needed to be ordered / re-order to Maintenance Inventory Specialist
• Maintain neat and orderly work area and properly maintain tools
• Performing sanitary welding on equipment and food processing piping when trained to do so
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures and all OSHA requirements
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Assist in training production operators on proper equipment operation
• Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Learn or can read and interpret electrical schematics to properly troubleshoot equipment
Back-Up
The Maintenance Supervisor is the backup when the Maintenance Technician is absent.
Requirements
Job Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with industrial electricity, automation control, and mechanical repairs required
• Electrical and Mechanical technology certification a pus or 2-3 years of industrial maintenance work experience in lieu of certification in a packaging or manufacturing environment.
• Experience in food processing industry is a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) to look up part location/availability on computer using CMMS platforms
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Ability to communicate with production operators and other Maintenance Technicians to be able to explain mechanical processes and root causes
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly using proper lifting techniques
• Good problem-solving skills and result-oriented
• Ability to lead by example using Personal Protective Equipment, abide to assigned work schedule, etc.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, and around machinery, and chemicals
• Ability to work in a team environment, assisting your teammates when needed
