As a Manufacturing Engineering & Quality Manager, you will be responsible leading the facility Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams by providing guidance to establish the necessary requirements for cost effective manufacturing, assembly and quality processes/solutions.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Key leader in projects relating to manufacturing efficiency, capital improvements and installations, NPI (New Product Introduction coordination, facility CPS (Caterpillar Production System) projects and RIW (Rapid Improvement Workshops), engineering change management, MES (Manufacturing Engineering System) and site IT infrastructure support owner.
- Owner of internal and external quality including ADQ (Advanced Quality), BiQ (Built in Quality), CQMS (Caterpillar Quality Management System), ISO9001, inbound supplier quality, and field support for customers, dealers, and product support groups.
- Point of contact on any quality issues reaching customers and owns RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) reporting and execution ownership for ADQ and internal defect containment.
- Contributes to the upgrading and maintenance of existing machine shop and assembly capabilities. Assures efficient performance of factory operations and minimizes operating costs through selection of tools, space layouts, equipment and manufacturing sequences.
- Controls plant layouts, machine moves, new equipment installations as well responsibly for facility quality programs in adherence with the Caterpillar QMS (Quality Management System).
- Ensures assigned facilities and methods are provided for the manufacture of products in line with authorized product programs and capacity schedules. Provides tools, services and methods needed by factory areas to meet current executive schedules. Updates equipment and keeps abreast of manufacturing technologies and controls forecasts.
- Maintains effective liaisons with all departments to ensure overall manufacturing objects are met.
- Develops and maintains an effective organization capable of achieving objectives and supporting manufacturing operations.
- Coordinates all capital projects related to assigned factories including forecasting, planning and monitoring special projects to completion. Provides related reports to upper management.
- Ensures employees stay abreast of technology advances and actual shop needs for the purpose of providing the best possible tools and equipment.
- Develops and implements a master plan to address the long-range cost reduction objectives.
- Impacts project performance (time, cost, quality, capacity), customer satisfaction, facility operations, asset utilization product performance, and cost management.
- Lead a team of hourly and management/professional employees across multiple shifts where monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required as well as training, developing and mentoring. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality or similar discipline or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of job-related experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Product Quality, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with manufacturing facilities, processes, equipment, quality disciplines, techniques, tools, and equipment
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skills
- Sound interpersonal skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
- Ability to take initiative and drive creative ideas forward
- Ability to thrive and adapt in a high growth, rapidly changing environment
- Passion for collaboration and ability to align multiple stakeholders internally and externally
Top Candidates will also have:
- Knowledge of ADQ, BiQ, APQP, QRWB, CQMS, ISO, MES, manufacturing operations and maintenance procedures
Travel:
- Up to 10%
