Job Title: Applications Engineer
Location: Petaluma, California
Job Summary: The Applications Engineer will play a vital role in developing, designing, and applying automated bottling production lines, primarily focusing on the wine and spirits industries. This position demands excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment and adapt to constant changes and challenges.
Reports To: Technical Director
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Calculate cost analysis for integrating new machinery and equipment into the manufacturing process.
- Utilize application experience and knowledge to design solutions with automated equipment for customer bottling operations.
- Develop technical solutions to be presented to customers by the sales team and offer technical support when necessary.
- Travel or participate in remote meetings with sales individuals to present technical solutions as required.
- Evaluate equipment suppliers to ensure they can provide the best solution for each customer application.
- Analyze alternative techniques and methods and recommend changes to equipment or procedures as needed.
- Contribute to the improvement of implemented processes for continuous improvement within the organization.
- Share technical information and training with other departments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree in an engineering-related field.
Experience:
- Relevant experience in packaging application engineering, preferably.
- Design experience and development of automated packaging or production lines using AutoCAD or related industrial design application software.
- Extensive understanding and fluency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of engineering and problem-solving, including electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
- Proficiency with computer-aided (CAD) industrial design systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Capability to perform with professionalism under pressure.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with knowledge of MS Project, Salesforce CRM, and CAD platforms.
