Purpose

Responsible for the development and production of Mass Spectrometry instrumentation. Provide guidance to Manufacturing Engineering team in evaluating new processes, and workflow systems to optimize plant efficiency.

Applies automation and computerized technologies to manufacturing processes and systems. Lead role in the investigation and initiation of corrective actions on instrument manufacturing and final test problems. Reviews, evaluates, and implements engineering changes and specification requirements. Acts as technical liaison with production planning and engineering personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Uses technical knowledge and significant problem-solving ability to conduct investigations of failures/complaints, and ongoing production issues, to determine the root cause
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and recommend root cause corrective action
  • Provide technical support for released product lines, Manufacturing and Customer Service as required
  • Create and/or maintain product documentation for investigations, test protocols and reports
  • Ability to record processes, re-organize to a format required for design transfer/production release (Man/Machine/Environment/tools/fixtures/CTQ’s)
  • Ability to communicate between functions/sites effectively to meet project deadlines
  • Simultaneously work on multiple sustaining/product improvement activities and production issues relating to design changes, to understand and manage activities that may impact and interrelate to each other
  • Work with manufacturing to bring product designs from the engineering prototype phase to production release, address quality or value engineering issues on current shipping products
  • Set up, configure, and test hardware and software products
  • Provide direction and training to Manufacturing technicians

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a Scientific Field including Chemistry, Biomedical, Electronics, or Instrumentation.
  • Extensive background with moving new designs from R&D to manufacturing
  • Travel 0% - 10%

Preferred Characteristics

  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Must work in a multi-disciplined environment (EEs, MEs, Chemists, Scientists, SW, and FW).
  • Participate in Peer Design Reviews
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $70,000  to $90,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
