Work Arrangement : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Grand Rapids’ Operations on a full-time basis.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage process and quality documentation such as error proofing, Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Process Control Plans
- Conduct materials testing and reporting in metallurgical laboratory
- Report and make recommendations based upon test analyses
- Provide production and maintenance support --such as technical troubleshooting and operator training as it relates to the metallurgical processes
- Provide oversight for two mechanical contractors
- Audit metallurgical processes to defined requirements (CQI-9).
- Safely operate, verify calibration, and maintain metallurgical laboratory equipment
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Metallurgy or Materials Science Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5 years of related experience in automotive and/or a manufacturing environment
- Experience in industrial metallurgical processes (atmosphere carburizing / induction hardening of steel / LPC (Low Pressure Carburizing) / vacuum carburizing experience) or experience in Materials Science
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in quality and process documentation: PPAP, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, standardized work
- Experience with problem solving tools (Red X, Six Sigma, Fishbone, 5Why)
