Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is an advanced skill level position that requires an individual who demonstrates proficiency across several technical, mechanical and computer disciplines, strong understanding of manufacturing methods, good project management, while demonstrating the motivation to apply their skills in a large capacity at Watchfire. The emphasis on this role is design/process development related to Watchfire manufacturing. The primary focus of this position is related to welding, sheet metal installation, paint, & shipping. Exceptional teamwork, communication, time management, data processing, multi-tasking skills, with an understanding of urgency and critical issues is required.
Responsibilities
- Identify with Order Realization Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality personnel the established manufacturing capabilities, efficient production methods, and quality defects/risks that will result in modifications/improvements to product designs.
- Coordinate with Purchasing personnel to support product designs and improvements related to products sourced from vendors or subcontractors.
- Creation of manufacturing documentation and machine programming.
- Advise all affected departments regarding process effects resulting from product changes (e.g., DCN, ECO, ECR).
- Manage projects individually and by leading a team as necessary. Includes conducting meetings and coordinating with other employees, suppliers, and outside contractors.
- Communicate with and develop vendors on technical subjects to supply products that meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Regularly attend training on subjects important to Watchfire and stay informed of industry practices and standards.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Proficient in reading/writing/typing in English. Comprehend written, visual, and verbal instructions. Experience presenting information in small group situations. Excellent reasoning skills related to cause and effect.
- Strong experience with computers, internet, smart phone/tablet, AutoDesk software (Inventor, Vault) and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience is preferred with metal fabrication/machining equipment, welding, Paint and/or fixture and gage design.
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, & crouch in and around tightly configured equipment. Occasionally lift and carry 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds.
Required Education
- Minimum 5 years of similar work experience with an Associates of Engineering Science in technology related field, or a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering technology related field.
