This person is responsible for utilizing technical knowledge and experience for process optimization in manpower, methods, materials, machinery, and measurements. This position is critical for insuring the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the production areas and ultimate implementation of these improvement actions in collaboration with management, staff, and production personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Methods
- Evaluate and develop manufacturing methods for maximum production efficiency
- Troubleshoot and develop corrective actions for process anomalies
- Evaluate equipment and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency
Machinery
- Design process tooling and fixturing. Provide drawings to facilitate fabrication.
- Analyze and recommend production machinery requirements to comply with process and budgetary constraints
- Maintain general knowledge and familiarity with manufacturing equipment operation. Provide technical assistance on equipment operation as needed.
- Assist in new equipment installation, commissioning and operator training
- Evaluate and specify material requirements for manufacturing processes, tooling and fixturing
Manpower
- Provide technical direction and training to production personnel as needed
- Ensure compliance of OSHA safety and health regulations in all manufacturing processes
Measurements
- Ensure compliance of EPA and environmental regulations in all manufacturing processes
- Evaluate and confer with Quality Control on manufacturing process inspection techniques and standards
Master Data Steward
- Register/monitor new articles in STEP & PRMS (UAC & BUC related) including inputting new product part numbers and monitor stages to maintain system accuracy
- Assist N.A. Diamond Tools when it comes to modify the STEP product structure. Update/modify the STEP tree of Products & Components when relevant.
- Manage requests for changes to master data. Support the business with required procedures, submit incidents and change requests when needed.
- Participate in projects and initiatives across N.A.
- Ensure access in STEP to the right data by the correct users at the right time according to the MDM rules and Category Rules, suggest changes as needed

- Working knowledge of machining and assembly practices
- Working knowledge of tooling and fixture design
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent level of technical training and experience with concentration in manufacturing/process required
- At least 3+ years previous Engineering experience required
- Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Above average exposure to manufacturing environment and Normal Office Environment
- Occasional lifting of not more than 40 lbs.
