Our large manufacturing client located in Peoria, Illinois, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with supply chain and electrification experience, to add to their team.
Position's Contributions to Work Group:
- Facilitate supplier selection and production readiness within NPI programs
- Liaise between engineering and procurement groups to align supplier selection with project needs
- Highly collaborative role. Primary interfaces are procurement teams (buyers, supplier development engineers, category procurement managers), engineering and project leads
- This role supports our client's Electrificaiton and Energy Solutions division in which there is a high volume of NPI activity requirement development and onboarding of several new suppliers
Typical task breakdown:
- Supports multiple NPI programs with ~ 2 year cradle to grave timeline
- ~ 6 months spent working with engineering to define requirements and buyer to ID potential suppliers and then to down select production suppliers based on multiple inputs
- 18 months supplier development and readiness activities using APQP process, issue resolution and program management. Will require regular reviews with engineering, buyers and suppliers as well as on-site readiness reviews at supplier

Interaction with team:
- Multiple daily touchpoints with engineering and procurement teams. Align with other manufacturing / supplier collaboration engineers on process best practices multiple times per week
- This role is required to assist the procurement NPI manager in developing best practices for the team
Work environment:
- Highly collaborative environment, high-paced program deliverables. Team is ~50% remote and regular travel to our client's facilities and / or supplier locations (primarily North America) is required.
Education & Experience Required:
- Relevant technical or business degree (mechanical / electrical engineering, supply chain, Manufacturing Engineering, business administration)
- Experience with electric vehicle procurement - technologies, supply base
- Experience working in a new product introduction environment and with identifying and developing new suppliers as well as new products with suppliers
