- Maintains a safe and healthy working environment for all glaze line associates, particularly in reference to silica, housekeeping, and organization.
- Responsible for leading and driving safety improvement projects in the glaze line area.
- Ensures product specifications are met throughout the glaze line value stream.
- Ensures quality control and process audit functions are met. Drives continuous improvement projects in the areas of green waste, recovery, shade control and application defects.
- Leads continuous improvement projects that drive world class PR levels.
- Responsible for working with technical team and R&D in all product qualification processes.
- Works jointly with maintenance and operations teams in both the Mini-PM and 8-week planned/preventative maintenance programs.
- Coordinates daily maintenance needs for department.
- Works with planning department to meet all scheduling requirements while making effective use of labor, material, and equipment.
- Leads group of Changeover Technicians to set record levels in tests completed and start-up efficiency.
- Direct responsibility for resources assigned to deco and application equipment, especially roller inventory tracking.
- Implements standard processes for all glaze line tasks, and audits work completed on all shifts for continuity and improvement.
- Participates in the selection of new hires or transfers for open glaze line positions.
- Lead in managing product classification by line, as well as key approval for all glaze line modifications and upgrades.
- Performance appraisal responsibility for direct associates, as well as panel assistance for other glaze line personnel.
- Conducts new hire or transfer training, as well as procedural updates throughout the glaze line organization.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred area of Study: Ceramic, Chemical, Geology.
- Extensive knowledge of glaze lines, printing technologies, quality standards and overall ceramic manufacturing.
- Requires knowledge of safety policy and procedures. Ability to read/write English.
- 3 or more years operations experience with a minimum of 1 years supervisory experience.
- Requires 10 plus years of experience in the ceramic tile industry with a strong background in glazes and glaze lines.
- Core competencies include strong communications skills with all levels, leadership organization and conflict resolution skills, data analysis and interpretation, and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to train, coach and problem solve.
- Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
