The newly built emergency department operates with a physician on duty 24-hours a day and is designated as a level IV trauma center. Each year, Adventist Health Ukiah Valley treats more than 25,000 patients in its emergency room, performs more than 5,000 surgical procedures in its hospital based and ambulatory surgery center, delivers nearly 850 babies and performs more than 43,000 radiology tests.
Job Summary:
Manages the organization of services and systems necessary for the care of the trauma patient. Develops, implements and evaluates the Trauma Program. Oversees clinical care, trauma performance improvement program, regulatory requirements, education and outreach.

Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Five years' clinical experience: Preferred
- One year leadership experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Healthstream Pediatric Advanced Life Support (HS-PALS) or RQIPALS: Required
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Required
Essential Functions:
- Manages all financial aspects of the Trauma Program budget. Coordinates development, review and revision of policies and procedures related to the Trauma Program. Identifies problems, strengths/weaknesses and provides counseling, instruction or coaching as necessary. Assures privacy and confidentiality when dealing with conflict resolution with staff. Oversees and acts as a clinical resource to nursing and ancillary staff to identify issues related to care of trauma patient.
- Participates in daily trauma rounds. Responds to trauma alerts, observes and assists with coordination of care for the trauma patient in the trauma resuscitation room. Involved in and leads all activities as it relates to structure and function of the trauma resuscitation room and collaborates with department leaders to overseen and direct care delivery in all departments caring for the trauma patient. Develops and provides oversight of trauma continuous quality improvement program that monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care. Assures adherence to performance improvement plans, analyzes trauma data and trends issues.
- Develops and implements injury prevention programs. Serves as a resource to nursing staff, pre-hospital personnel and other outside personnel related to trauma care and injury prevention education. Provides patient and community injury prevention information. Standardizes the care of trauma patients through education, performance improvement, injury prevention and legislative efforts.
- Provides direction and oversight to all aspects of the trauma registry. Assures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of data input. Ensures coding, scoring and process for validation of the data are accurate and complete. Ensures results of audits and recommendations are provided to the appropriate personnel.
- Coordinates, monitors and maintains compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies and hospital policy. In collaboration with department leaders, develops and provides trauma education and orientation programs and competencies for appropriate hospital personnel. Collaborates with community relations department in development and implementation of programs for the community.
