Position Summary
Leads Transmission Account Representatives, associated staff and contractors in full scope of responsibilities associated with Business Relationship management and extremely complex contract negotiations with internal and external Customers. Provides strategic and tactical project negotiation advice and direction. Conceptualizes and manages continuous improvement within the Transmission Business Relations arena and business implementation opportunities. Cultivates and proactively manages effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage a team that develops and maintains high-quality professional relationships with transmission customers and interconnected transmission owners. Ensure ongoing interactions are managed according to applicable provisions of current contracts. Seek to transform Transmission Business Relationships into strategic assets by creating a climate of mutual understanding, trust and support.
  • Define and implement workflows, accountabilities, resource requirements, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum Transmission Business Relations performance, implementation effectiveness and efficiency. Manage the contract management function within transmission to ensure provisions are consistent with tariffs and FERC policy. Ensure internal processes, policies, and procedures align with all applicable regulatory and legal requirements, as well as with company objectives and strategies.
  • Develop customer driven solutions for and resolve disputes with customers. Assemble internal/external resources necessary to address Transmission Business customer issues and solve problems in a timely manner. Interface on both legal and technical customer matters with Legal, System Operations, Transmission Planning, control areas, reserve groups, neighboring transmission systems, and others as applicable. Provide strategic and tactical guidance and decision-making associated with public and contractual issues that are encountered during contract negotiations.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external organizations to optimize Transmission Business Relations implementation effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in contract negotiation within the energy field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in one or more of the following transmission areas: planning/asset management, engineering, siting & permitting, project management, construction, Business Relations.
  • Demonstrated success in a supervisory role overseeing complex technical projects and relationships.
  • Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in the areas of contract negotiation; cross-functional interaction; work direction; and performance management.
  • Knowledge of transmission/substation engineering, project management and construction projects.
  • Requires a high level of confidentiality and a working knowledge of FERC order 888, 2000, 889 and 2004 and associated Standards of Conduct.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $119,000.00 to $169,665.67 per year
