POSITION OVERVIEW: The Manger-Support Servicesmanages the operations of Nutrition, Environmental Services, Facility, Security and Volunteer Services at the Madras or Prineville Campus. Maintains standards for professional practice and regulatory compliance and is responsible for planning, budgeting, staffing, performance, and operation of assigned departments. This position manages caregivers in assigned departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Responsible and accountable for successful daily operations of the departments (including quality, safety, customer service, financial, and caregiver engagement targets.)
Responsible for budget development, regular monitoring, accountability and meeting all operational targets for all areas within span of control.
Hires, directs, coaches and monitors the performance of all direct reports, to develop and maintain a high performance team that meets organizational and department goals.
Monitors and ensures all direct reports are current with compliance and safety requirements. Implements and manages all organizational safety directives and goals.
Provides and oversees team's delivery of customer service in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.
Collaborates with teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvements, applying Lean principles, concepts and tools.
Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.
Supports the Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.
Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, supporting the organization's corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings.
Participate in the organizations various committees and teams as assigned.
Nutrition
Oversees the development of menus for cafeteria, deli, catering, and patients with attention to healthful, high quality, and revenue producing items. Promotes food and supply purchasing practices to encourage sustainable food supplies. Maintains creative, contemporary menu consistent with both current food trends and customer preferences. Sets standards for food and assure compliance with standards. In charge of purchasing and maintaining appropriate levels of food and supplies. Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of nutritional services, high standards for food safety and sanitation practices, while maintaining compliance with pertinent laws and regulations.
Coordinates services to maintain the cleanliness, comfort, and safety of the interior of service area. Performs Quality Assurance checks daily.
Manages equipment and facilities within the nutritional service area
Facilities
Manages integrated facility services and systems and coordinate operations with other system facility departments.
Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of facility services while maintaining compliance with pertinent laws and regulations.
Responsible to review and provide input to the system departments concerning changes to utility, Life Safety, security plans and procedures, and equipment operation and management procedures that relate to the CAH..
Coordinate fuel supplies/deliveries with respective suppliers, i.e., natural gas and #2 fuel oil. Ensure natural gas nominations and usage balance to avoid penalties.
Coordinate the purchase of materials, equipment, and services used in the operation of the facility's mechanical, electrical, and utilities systems.
Assist with energy management functions, budgeting, long-range planning, capital planning and asset management for facility and utility needs.
Responsible to collaborates with the Facilities and Biomed on all aspects of program management, including work history data analysis, staffing allocation, budget control, equipment acquisition planning, installation and testing, outside vendor management, development of policies and procedures, and provision of Biomedical engineering services, i.e. scheduled work distribution that relate to the CAH
Performs rounds on clinical units to verify proper equipment use and operation. Develops and monitors compliance with equipment preventive maintenance schedules.
Demonstrates knowledge of safety and regulatory issues. Works with the department manager to ensure compliance with CMS.
Security
Ensures local compliance with state and federal OSHA laws related to security and workplace violence
Manages data collection, analysis and reporting of all security related functions local to the CAH. Regularly presents data to caregivers and leaders to inform teams of security hazards and progress towards hazard mitigation.
Responsible for implementation and execution of all organizational security directives and goals at the local CAH.
Manages St. Charles Health Madras and Prineville Security activities. Maintains contracts related to security service. Annually reviews and updates the internal and external security plans (camera coverage, badge access, lockout capability, etc.) and evaluates security events for trends and opportunities in collaboration with System support.
Volunteers
Oversees the operations of the gift shops including inventory, financial reconciliation, and staffing.
Maintains a high performance volunteer program to provide a "world class" hosptiality environment for patients, families, guests, and caregivers.
Collaborates with operations managers to assess and determine the volunteer needs of departments.
Works collaboratively with hospital leadership to ensure volunteers can respond to questions and requests of patients and visitors accurately.
Responsible to built the volunteer program and bring more volunteers to the organization.
May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required:
Must be able to obtain county food handlers card within two weeks of employment.
Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements.
Ability to travel to all St. Charles Health System worksites.
Required within one year of hire: CHEST and CDM certifications
Preferred:
CHFM Certification (Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager); CHEST certification, CDM (Certified Dietary Manager)
EXPERIENCE
Required: 5 years in a healthcare related field demonstrating progressive growth in leadership with at least3 years of leadership experience.
Preferred: Previous supervisory/management experience in nutritional services, plant engineering or environmental services healthcare.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Continually (75% or more): Standing, walking, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing.
Frequently (50%): Sitting, bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 11-25 pounds.
Occasionally (25%): Climbing ladder/step-stool, reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, keyboard operation for receiving caregivers, operation of a motor vehicle, use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.
Rarely (10%): Keyboard operation.
Never (0%): Whispered speech level.
