Job Summary:
This role is responsible for processing financial data for use in maintaining accounting records and the preparation of financial reporting to management, affiliates and regulatory agencies.
Essential Functions:
Estimated Percentage of Time Dedicated to Responsibilities:
Manage Statutory financial reporting for Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America and Sand Lake Re, Inc. by coordinating, preparing, compiling and/or reviewing Statutory quarterly and annual exhibits, schedules and supplemental filings (NAIC), preparation of RBC filings, MD&A, and other state required filings, U.S. Department of Commerce reporting (BEA), parent company reporting (CIO) and rating agency filings (AM Best). Primary contact with FLOIR for Statutory reporting submissions and review. Responsible for preparation of annual audited financial statements. These tasks keep our companies in good standing with regulators so we can continue to conduct our business.
Provide assistance with communication with regulators and any desk audits or financial examinations. Support the Corporate Actuarial function in the preparation of the Actuarial Opinion as needed. Answer financial and accounting questions from executive leadership, auditors, regulators, and others by researching transactions, interpreting data, and demonstrating understanding of the Companies' financial performance.

Responsible for the administering asset and investment income allocations at the market category level for Statutory, IFRS, and Solvency II accounting bases. Responsible for determining the funding target on a market category basis for assets under own management. Responsible for recording standby LOC expense on a cash, Statutory, and Solvency II ledgers in TRS. These tasks allow our business units to complete their quarterly reporting requirements and deadlines in a timely manner.

Manage and review work of supporting team ensuring timely reporting and adequate cross training of all functions to ensure accurate, efficient, and compete reporting. Will be responsible for monitoring NAIC communications including emerging issues, keeping management appraised, directing implementation of required changes to Statutory Reporting and communicating exposure drafts to interested parties within the Companies.

Manage and ensure compliance with Model Audit Rule for accounting processes to maintain our company remains in good standing with regulators. Liaise with internal and external auditors related to Statutory Reporting and in to facilitate controls testing and substantive procedures. Work to streamline the statutory close process and provide executable recommendations that improve operations and finance functions.

Other responsibilities as assigned including supporting the Assistant Controller and other colleagues as necessary.

Qualifications
Essential knowledge skills and abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business from a four year college or university.
- Minimum 10 years related experience in financial reporting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior management experience
- Life & health reinsurance accounting experience in Statutory, IFRS, and Solvency II
Desired knowledge skills and abilities:
- CPA
- Advanced skills in Excel
- Annual Statutory Statement Preparation experience
- Significant experience with analytical reports
- Advanced general ledger experience (i.e. PeopleSoft)
- Intermediate experience with reporting in database software such as Smart View
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Availability and flexibility in meeting reporting deadlines
