Job Description
McDonald’s is seeking a collaborative and proactive individual who will clarify expectations, apply relevant standards and best-practices to craft and develop innovative solutions, POCs and fast fail concepts for our deployment services team. This will be a collaborative role and will have influence and oversight over the front-end channel and backend systems to ensure consistency of product and integration of standard methodologies. You’ll work with McDonald’s vendors and numerous internal teams. There’s no shortage of opportunity as the deployment services team oversees all technology delivered into the 13,500+ restaurants and just last year over a million software upgrades were performed!
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Analyze new solution requests, solicits, and clarifies nonfunctional requirements, and works with developer team to formulate conceptual and physical architectures, to rapidly deliver solutions in a fast paced, multi-vendor, cloud-first environment
- Triages technology proposals against existing infrastructure standards and best practices, and leads subsequent solution and variance activities
- Lead, develop, and implement sequencing, priorities, dependencies, and dashboards needed for solution packaging, testing, and deployments
- Experience in deployment roll out across network of geographically dispersed and high number of restaurant sites preferred
- Establish relationships across organization, specifically with McDonalds Product Engineering Managers and McDonalds development teams
- Work with Product Engineering Managers to ensure that deployment services team backlogs are appropriately populated
- Assist deployment services teams in removal of blockers during applicable sprints
- Collect and report on vendor teams performance metrics on regular cadence and ensure that targets are in line with agreed upon goals and achievements
- Consolidate team performance, outputs and roadmaps for sharing with the larger organization on monthly/quarterly basis
- Develop deep understanding of development and deployment pipelines and corresponding tools used by the deployment services team
- Build out mapping of technical domains and ownership groups that aid in connecting teams to resolve blockers and drive efficient deployments
- Develop understanding of testing processes and tools
- Partner with Deployment Squads and Development teams to align on priorities and find opportunities for improvements in the development and deployment pipelines
Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional experience in Project Management
- 5+ years facilitating and leading teams in fast paced, results driven environment
- 5+ years experience in working with development teams with exposure to CI/CD pipelines
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and Agile processes
- Determined with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and standard methodologies
- Solid grasp of the Software Development Life Cycle including Agile development practices
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Applications
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and PowerBI
- Able to work with culturally complementary teams across levels in a global organization and in an extensively outsourced environment
- Strong stakeholder management and prioritization skills, organized and meticulous
- Recognize and communicate areas of opportunity for product, process, and service improvements
- Exceptional problem solving/critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background with experience integrating applications and systems developed by multiple parties
- Ability to understand complex integration needs and work with multiple teams to drive alignment, integrate, and certify the integration of front-end and back-end systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Experience with RESTful API Design/Microservice design a plus
- Exposure in open source tools such as Node.JS, Cassandra, etc.
- Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager
