Responsible for defining, leading, and executing sensory testing programs that support product development and business development across all Winland Foods categories. Accountable for all elements of test execution, including design and administration of appropriate research methods, interpretation and reporting of data, and general consultation on strategic product and business issues. This includes sourcing of samples, conducting and reporting of internal sensory tests, testing with external people in Winland’s sensory lab, coordination of outside vendor contracts and tests for sensory and managing the lab and systems to support these efforts.

Sensory Science Job Description:
- Develops and implements sensory and consumer research methodologies in support of product development.
- Clearly reports study findings and recommendations through written and verbal communications.
- Manages all aspects of the internal sensory lab and associated areas including software selection, supply, organization, incentive programs, maintenance, etc.
- Develop and manage database of local external consumers to use for sensory testing. Manage all aspects of program including payments, tracking, scheduling, communication, etc.
- Identify, select, and approve external sensory facilities and coordinate testing as necessary with those vendors.
- Develops logical and actionable conclusions and recommendations through thorough understanding of the data.
- Coordinate product showings and write reports / summaries.
- Acts as internal sensory expert for R&D including training of cross-functional associates in sensory principles and techniques.
- Maintains internal Sensory Insights test database.
- Supports multiple company sites, with travel as appropriate to coordinate / administer programs and training for continuity throughout the organization.
- Manage associate that supports sensory work, including annual goals, reviews and career growth.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- 8 years of experience in sensory analysis, preferably with a consumer package goods company
- Great interpersonal skills with ability to communicate details (both written and verbal) for fact-based decision making
- Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE), key driver analysis, advanced statistics, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Established problem solving/influencing skills and the ability to function in a team-based environment
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Great teambuilding skills focusing on mentoring and coaching, ability to effectively manage associate
- Experienced in research/statistical analysis software applications (e.g., JuMP, SAS, SPSS, EyeQuestion, etc.); strong with Microsoft Office Software
- Self-motivation in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity, change and a dynamic business environment
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of ASTM standards.
