Code.org is looking for a Manager - Research, Evaluation, and Data (RED) who is passionate about bringing their expertise and skills with data together with their passion for education. This role is a multifaceted role that integrates strategic leadership in research, hands-on management of analytics infrastructure, and Data analysis. This leader will play a crucial role in driving Code.org's strategic objectives through informed data analysis and research, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and Data-driven decision-making.
This position requires overseeing research and evaluation projects to assess program impacts, while also managing the organization's analytics infrastructure, including the data warehouse and Data modeling. The role will lead a team of analysts, researchers, and analytics engineers in support of the organization's needs for data, and analysis to improve outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strong technical data skills, experience in mentoring technical staff, strong analysis capabilities, and experience implementing data tools for stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn this role, you will:
- Lead a team of research, data, and analytics professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, coordination, and execution
- Set objectives, evaluate performance, and provide mentorship and guidance to team members
- Prioritize RED projects to effectively support decision making required by the organization, its programs and partners to achieve their goals
- Oversee the design and execution of research projects to assess program impacts
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data using various statistical and analytical techniques
- Effectively communicate complex data concepts in an understandable and accessible way to a diverse audience within the organization.
- Leverage insights from data to recommend improvements in programs and initiatives
- Manage and improve the organization's analytics infrastructure
- Provide technical expertise and input on analytics infrastructure design, data modeling, and system implementation
- Facilitate the integration and optimal and efficient use of third-party data tools by stakeholders reducing dependencies on the RED team for routine requests
- Contribute to and adopt the organization's strategy, cross-team priorities, and goals
- Continuously improve team processes and execution of the roadmap
- Connect with external organizations and find opportunities for beneficial partnerships
We seek candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree
- At least 5+ years of experience with data analysis,and managing analytics systems
- At least 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineers and Data / analytical professionals
- Proficiency in data modeling (e.g. DBT), SQL, statistical software (e.g.SPSS, R, Python), and Data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
- Experience with implementation and management of data tools used by business stakeholders
- Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex data concepts in a clear and accessible manner
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for data trends and insights
- Experience managing, and delivering end-to-end analytics projects
- Experience influencing, and partnering with stakeholders across the organization
We prefer candidates who also have:
- Taken computer science courses or have experience with programming
- Teaching or volunteering experience in K-12 classrooms
In addition, candidates must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Pass a pre-employment background check
- Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGEThe expected salary range for this position is $148,500 - $165,000. The actual offer will be at the company's sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate's qualifications, years of experience, and skillset.
