Description:

Will be responsible for General Radiology and MRI, representing 70+ FTEs. The Manager coordinates, evaluates and directs patient care services and all technical, business and administrative activities for the Department of Radiology. Supervises the management and development of staff for assigned work teams. In collaboration with the Radiology Director is responsible for budgeting, short-term and long-range planning and departmental communications.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Critical Job Responsibility
In collaboration with the Radiology Director, determines short-term and long-term plans for the Department. Is accountable for the development of systems that support and achieve the short-term and long range departmental plans and objectives. Is accountable for operational quality assurance, methods and systems and compliance of the policies and procedures with the hospital/departmental standards, regulatory and governmental agencies. Plans and attends and actively participates in various intradepartmental administrative and operational meetings. Represents the department on various standing and ad hoc committees and task forces.
B. Financial Viability
Interjects operational expertise to assist department staff in the development or reorganization of department procedures and responsibilities to achieve efficiency in services and budget objectives.
In collaboration with the Radiology Director prepares capital and operating budgets. Assesses current technology and imaging trends as they may be implemented programmatically into the Radiology service structure. Monitors departmental performance to ensure that budgetary objectives are attained and is able to validate budget variances. Communicates pertinent information, statistics, problems and plans so that there is an understanding of the department's activities, issues and opportunities.
C. Service Excellence - External Customers
Participates in the development and serves as the primary vehicle for implementation and maintenance of quality improvement programs and interprets programs to staff. Supports and development and implementation of department policies and procedures with staff participation and input. Functions as a resource for patients, families, and physicians and health system staff by responding to concerns and providing feedback in a timely manner. Oversees educational programs and clinical internships with affiliating allied health programs.
D. Service Excellence - Internal Customers
Participates in the selection, supervision and performance evaluation of departmental staff, provides for the effective training, staff development and continuing education. Makes recommendations regarding pay and promotion, corrective actions and terminations. Supports the development of the department's organizational structure and operational procedures so that responsibilities are effectively delegated and reporting relationships are clearly defined. Provides guidance, leadership and support to staff to assist their achievement of departmental goals. Coordinates and directs the activities of the radiology staff engaged in patient care or support functions within the department. Assists staff technologists in resolution of the more difficult technical problems. Instructs or demonstrates. Appropriate techniques or methods of equipment use.
