The Opportunity
Our location in Alameda, CA currently has an opportunity for a Product Quality Engineering Manager. As a Manager Product Quality Engineering you will be responsible for the tactical and operational activities of the Product Quality Engineering (PQE) Investigation Team. This role is responsible for providing day to day direction and input to the Extended Complaint Investigations (IVRs / IVRSIs). The role will ensure that PQE are ready to perform investigations while ensuring compliance with Abbott's Quality Policies and Global Regulations.
What You'll Work On

  • Responsible for communication of information to the Senior Manager of Product Quality Engineering & R&D Organization, & WWPQA Management team as required.
  • Ensuring resources are adequately balanced & managed to ensure timely completion of technical investigations.
  • Measures and reports performance of personnel and process relative to targets.
  • Develops and implements plans, ensures milestones are met and prioritizes resource workload as required to meet commitments.
  • Responsible for making recommendations to manufacturing, Third Party Manufacturers & R&D based on investigation insights.
  • Develop area goals and align with business objectives for new product introduction, driving improvements and change existing products on market.
  • Develop strategies in conjunction with the R&D organization to drive down complaint rates and product return, thus leading to better customer experience with products in the field.
  • Manage complex technical projects that drive change to product design & manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for implementing the effectiveness and maintaining compliance of the Quality System. (e.g. compliance with internal procedures and FDA, BSI, EEO regulations etc.).
  • Directs Quality personnel to support quality system initiatives based on coordination with management, project leaders, & design engineers.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree is a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience related to supplied Product Quality within an FDA/ISO certified environment.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and enable department employees in meeting objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in departmental budgeting and supervision/training/managing staff.
  • Experience with computers and software application knowledge consistent with engineering environments.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5-25%, including internationally.

The base pay for this position is
$104,300.00 - $208,500.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
