The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

The Manager, Payroll & Benefits will collaborate with the Vice President of Human Resources to ensure the organization is following company policies along with government regulations, while ensuring the company’s ethics, morals and integrity align with the mission. This role manages payroll, taxes, benefits and insurance.

Taxes & Payroll

·       Manages preparation and ensure accurate entry of bi-weekly payroll totaling in excess of $6 million annually

·       Ensures payroll vendor completes processing and filing of all tax documents to include 941, W-2, W-3 and 1095-C forms and makes timely payment of payroll taxes

·       Works with Accounts Payable Manager to produce 1096 and 1099 forms for the Association and Foundation

·       Completes Form 720 and ensures payment of associated tax

·       Manages employee personnel files in addition to entering and maintaining accurate information in ADP

·       Manages relationship with payroll vendor to include price negotiation

Benefits & Insurance

·       Manages and researches annual insurance renewals with the Chief Financial Officer and VP of HR

·       Serves as Plan Administrator for 70+ full-time employees (includes health, vision, dental, life, AD&D, short-term, long-term disability, Health Reimbursement Account, Flexible Spending Accounts and 401(k) program)

·       Ensures non-discrimination and 5500 testing and reporting is completed on time and distributed appropriately

·       Serves as liaison between carriers and employees with questions related to company 401(k)

·       Responsible for reporting, processing, record-keeping and follow-up on workers’ compensation injuries

·       Serves as liaison with insurance carrier for all liability, automobile and property damage claims

·       Assists with relocation expenses for newly hired employees

Education and Certification

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required along with a minimum of two years in the field. PHR, SPHR and/or equivalent SHRM certification or working towards is required, while any additional certificates is plus.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

Mathematical Skills

Intermediate Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

Reasoning Ability

High Skills - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

Other Qualifications

·       Ability to travel is limited but could consist of overnight(s)

·       Continued education is expected to remain knowledgeable in the field through publications, conferences and/or educational webinars

·       Must be results and people oriented but also possess the ability to balance other business considerations

·       Must possess ability to multitask, establish priorities and work independently

·       Must have ability to establish credibility and be decisive

·       Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented

·       Maintain confidentially of sensitive information pertaining to employees, while earning trust and respect

·       Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Must be proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·       Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and QuickBooks preferred

·       Financial acumen preferred

Benefits

·       Compensation - $45,000 - $55,000

·       The AJGA offers full-time employees:

o   Health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance with premiums covered at 85% by the organization

o   401(k) retirement plan after one full year of employment

o   Phone plan stipend

o   Relocation expenses if applicable

o   Seven weeks of paid time off
