In this position, you will define system solutions, mentor employees, lead development teams, and share the responsibility for the technical direction of the AutoVIN suite of applications. You will play an essential role in allowing our applications to grow, scale, and remain highly available. You will work closely with Program & Product Management, and many other teams within OPENLANE to ensure high quality and feature-rich applications.
- Guide your team to implement the technical direction. Collaboratively work with management, product managers, and your team to grow and evolve the technical direction.
- Drive, create, and improve operational excellence, quality, security and privacy initiatives within your team and the entire engineering organization using devops best practices.
- Support an ambitious group of engineers in their career goals. Work with our people operation leadership to maintain our high performance and high morale.
- Care about agility as much as you care about scalability and availability. Keep projects short and tightly scoped.
- Spend time reviewing and writing code to help develop and grow the engineers on the team.
- Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions and express those solutions at a task level.
- Understand business context to make decisions within and across groups.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer escalations and system issues.
- Ensure off-hours support coverage for customer escalations and system issues.
- Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to employees.
- Evaluate employee performance, set expectations and goals for team and individual team members, recruit and train team members.
- Product Engineering Team Management experience is a requirement. Most management experience will be within some type of agile environment. Experience with SaaS Product development is a plus.
- You will need to be hands-on technically, comfortable reviewing and writing code.
- Have deep knowledge of a high-level programming language, ideally .NET, C#, and Azure. Great people are effective and learn what we use quickly. Our ideal is for every team to be comfortable working across the full stack, delivering new features and capabilities from start to finish.
- Understanding of Software design patterns and software architecture best practices.
- Experience writing high quality object-oriented code.
- Experience building large scale, high-performing, enterprise systems.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Experience with devops concepts (i.e. CI/CD, automated testing, automated deployment, monitoring, etc.).
- Collaborative approach to work, reaching out across teams and groups to get things done.
- Able to prioritize, be flexible and handle multiple projects with varying deadlines in a multi-task environment.
- Highly organized and has a superior attention to detail.
- Experience with Azure cloud development and deployment, platform-as-a-service environments, and the .NET stack.
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with high availability and scalable systems.
- Continuous integration and delivery, especially using Azure DevOps.
- Automated Testing (Unit, Integration, Functional).
- Salary range of $130,000 - $150,000 plus Long Term Stock options depending on experience, skill set, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
