Harbor's Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 34-bed Memory Support Unit.
We are seeking a highly qualified full-time Manager of Housekeeping to join our team to deliver excellent services for our residents and staff. The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population. The Manager of Housekeeping is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Housekeeping Department within established quality care and service standards. Ensure the department operates within budgetary guidelines while maintaining, or exceeding quality care and service standards.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and evaluate housekeeping functions to include scheduling resident cleanings, and conduct routine inspection of buildings to determine specific cleaning needs.
- Must follow proper safety, infection control, and sanitation protocols in accordance with industry standards and regulations by maintaining cleanliness and sanitization of the facilities.
- Ensure all Housekeeping protocols and procedures are followed in accordance with established health, hygiene, and appearance policies and regulations (including safety and risk management).
- Assist with staffing plans, ensuring that the appropriate staff members are available to provide high-quality cleaning services for residents. This includes recruiting, hiring, and training new staff members, as well as scheduling and coordinating shifts to always ensure adequate coverage according to budget guidelines.
- Manage housekeeping staff to include coaching, training, recognitions, promotions, performance management, corrective action, and separation of employment.
- Work closely with the Finance Department to develop and monitor budgets and ensure appropriate staffing.
- Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment, recommending necessary capital equipment as needed.
- Establish productive relationships with all Department Managers to ensure the effective delivery of Housekeeping services.
- Prepare reports and provide updates to management as needed including projects, staffing levels, and inspection reports.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in management or similar field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Environmental Services and at least three (3) years of management experience.
- Provide excellent Housekeeping Management in a healthcare environment, which meets or exceeds high quality care and service standards.
- Must demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills and model Service Excellence.
- Strong desire to work in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)
- Current COVID-19 Vaccine is required to support the health and safety of our residents and staff.
- Effective communication with all personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public demonstrating excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. Demonstrate engaging and positive demeanor.
- Must have good computer skills and experience using Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic scheduling systems.
- Able to exert a minimum of 50 lbs. of energy in order to assist elderly in and out of wheelchairs, beds, etc., as well as be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel, balance, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falls, reach over the head, push/pull, and grasp with both hands.
