Purpose:
The UPMC Application Engineering Consumer Technology department is a large and diverse team, responsible for the requirements, development, testing, and support of custom software solutions for UPMC Health Plan’s Insurance Services Division. Our digital assets include numerous public websites, secure web portals, native mobile applications, and API/web services integrations. We are currently seeking a Manager, IT Engineering (Quality Assurance and Automation) to lead and mentor our team of Test Automation Engineers with a passion for defining and implementing Quality Assurance best practices and automated testing solutions.Work from Home Opportunity!!


Responsibilities:

  • Manages a single team function of primarily Test Automation Engineers
  • Defines, implements, and enforces Software Quality Assurance standards, best practices, and testing methodologies across the team to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products and compliance with IT, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Implements and maintains automated testing frameworks and tools to enhance testing capabilities, effectiveness, and overall software quality.
  • Participates in new project kickoffs and Scrum/Agile planning ceremonies to analyze requirements and estimate QA efforts and resource capacity.
  • Plans, designs, executes, and oversees software testing activities including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
  • Monitor and analyze software defects and issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve product quality.
  • Provides regular updates on QA activities, test results, and quality metrics.
  • Completes performance evaluations and coaches/mentor’s staff.
  • Contributes to department’s short-term and long-term strategy and goals.
  • Provides input on budget planning. Responsible for managing to budget.
  • Responsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day to day work and projects within department.
  • Facilitates successful completion of projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. Works in collaboration with multiple teams and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts.
  • Identify, create, and apply Quality Assurance process improvements to increase product and service quality to achieve business objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring that service is provided to the IT client community, patients, families, and visitors, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
  • Responsible for continuous self-study, trainings, partnering with management, and/or seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up to date with industry and organizational trends. Seeks feedback from management and team for development and effectively incorporates feedback into work and behaviors.

Qualifications:

  • Nine years of total related experience, with at least two years’ experience in a leadership role OR equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Understanding of IT Engineering best practices, architecture, and framework.
  • Strong project management, problem solving, organizational, relationship, communication, and negotiation skills (oral and written) are required.
  • Strong understanding of IT strategy and how it relates to business objectives.
  • Ability to apply extensive experience to highly complex problems.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Comfortable leading and delegating QA testing and Automation efforts on multiple large-scale, highly integrated software solutions in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of software Quality Assurance methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Expert level mastery coding test automation frameworks and scripts utilizing an industry standard framework such as Selenium WebDriver.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C# is preferred.
  • Knowledge of API/web services and native mobile application testing tools is preferred.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL and the implementation of data-driven testing.
  • Experience with DevOps continuous integration/continuous delivery practices and integration of QA automation into software deployment processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex software defects and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software products.
