Position Summary:
The International Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of a multinational organization. This role involves managing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with international financial regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making at the executive level.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead the preparation and review of financial statements for multiple international entities in accordance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). Ensure compliance with local regulations and reporting requirements in various countries.
Coordinate and oversee the accurate consolidation of financial data from international subsidiaries and affiliates. Verify intercompany transactions and eliminate any discrepancies to present a comprehensive global financial picture.
Compliance and Regulatory: Stay abreast of changes in International Accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements to ensure compliance across all jurisdictions.
Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audits of international entities. Provide necessary documentation, answer audit inquiries, and ensure timely completion of audit processes.
Manage and oversee cross-border transactions, including intercompany transfers, foreign currency transactions, and transfer pricing arrangements. Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and optimize tax efficiencies.
Develop and maintain consistent accounting policies and procedures across international entities. Ensure alignment with international standards and best practices while considering local regulations.
Manage and mentor a team of International Accounting professionals across various locations. Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
Provide financial analysis and insights on international operations, including variance analysis, budget vs. actual performance, and recommendations for improvement.
Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data. Identify and address control gaps and risks in International Accounting processes.
Collaborate with IT teams on the implementation and optimization of ERP systems for international financial operations. Ensure data integrity and efficient reporting capabilities.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes (i.e. full accounting cycle) and ensure timelines are being met on a consistent basis for assigned markets.
Process and approve financial and operational transactions in General Ledgers for business line operations. Ensure General Ledger for assigned markets is closed accurately and timely. Currently using Workday financial system for all General Ledger accounting.
Reviews account reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts and analyzes them to determine the appropriateness of the balances.
Ensure proper compliance with SOX and internal controls.
Review, investigate and resolve significant accounting and reporting issues.
Review key contracts and complex arrangements to ensure compliance with IFRS and US GAAP.
Support and implement new accounting pronouncement changes when applicable to agilon health.
Protects protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Performs special projects and analyses, as well as additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Experience
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on International Accounting and reporting.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP) and experience with complex financial consolidations.
Ability to handle ambiguity and lack of structure.
Previous experience in managing International Accounting teams and coordinating audits across multiple jurisdictions.
Thorough understanding of SOX internal control environments; ability to identify key accounting issues and apply correct treatment under IFRS and US GAAP.
Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with Workday is a plus.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with international teams and stakeholders.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to adapt to changing regulations and accounting standards in different countries.
Ability to engage and influence multi-level staff up to executive management.
Familiarity with transfer pricing regulations and tax implications of cross-border transactions.
Prior experience in managed care industry (preferred, but not required).
Strong in Microsoft products, in particular Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Able to work independently and use independent judgment.
