Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems (SSSD) is seeking a qualified Front Line Manager (Mgr Engineering 1) to support the manual assembly team within the Module Assembly and Test Center (MA&T). This position is located in Manhattan Beach, CA.

The Front Line Manager is responsible for direct supervision of manufacturing activities in the Module Assembly and Test Department. The Front Line Manger will be the main point of contact for managing manual assembly needs for MAT lab. MA&T is a world class facility capable of assembling and testing a wide array of microelectronic modules from DC to W-Band for space, air and ground applications. The MA&T department handles all operations from kitting through final screens. Processes include: component attach using conductive/non-conductive epoxy, wire and ribbon bonding, eutectic mount, laser sealing, seam sealing, RF & DC Tune & Test, and MIL-STD-883 screens.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Train, mentor and motivate technicians.
  • Lab POC for investigating, identifying and resolving lab issues and understanding impact to production.
  • Ensure training and certifications are current for lab employees (ensure no single point failures by maintaining proficiency cross training between areas). Assist Department Manager and Process owners on the Point of Operation (POO) training for production area access.
  • Review program requirements to ensure adequate resources (personnel, equipment, and consumable material) are available and trained prior to production needs.
  • Ensure process compliance, analyze defect, cost, and schedule metrics and implement continuous improvements.
  • Manage equipment calibration and preventative maintenance schedules and ensure DFAR compliance.
  • Support identification of new equipment/aging equipment for capital forecasts

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of manufacturing production and electronics manufacturing experience
  • Previous production/manufacturing or design experience
  • Prior experiences leading projects or programs or mentoring people
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in Solumina and Enovia

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or other STEM area
  • Previous project or personnel management experience
  • Knowledge and experience implementing lean manufacturing concepts
  • Able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance

Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
