As the Manager of Digital Product Development, you will play a crucial role in leading the development and implementation of complex digital systems. You will be responsible for the design and execution of projects that support the accelerated deployment of technology and operational solutions for data and digitalization initiatives. With your extensive experience and technical expertise, you will support and guide the Digital Product Development team, contribute to design decisions, build new internal processes, expand our customer base, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

The position will be based in the Chicagoland area at the GTI Energy Headquarters. We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday.
- Support new and existing Product Development projects in areas that may include software development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, field data collection platforms, data quality analytics, risk management, regulatory compliance, sensor systems, and other emerging technologies, especially as they relate to managing a low carbon future.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to translate business requirements into scalable and efficient designs. Contribute to architectural decisions and ensure adherence to software development principles.
- Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions using industry best practices and coding standards.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Digital Product Development team. Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Identify market drivers, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape for critical initiatives.
- Analyze and debug complex software issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions. Work together with stakeholders to identify and resolve software defects and performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate effectively with other teams to drive software development projects from conception to completion. Communicate project status, risks, and challenges to stakeholders and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Stay current with the latest software development trends, data analytic technologies, and data management methodologies. Evaluate emerging technologies and tools and propose innovative solutions to enhance development processes and product capabilities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and API documentation. Share knowledge and best practices with team members to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Develop strategic plans for building and maintaining Digital Product Development competencies and know-how to keep pace with GTI Energy’s current and future business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, PHP, TypeScript, or similar languages.
- Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures.
- Experience with cloud technologies (such as MS Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.)
- Knowledge of software testing, debugging, and performance optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and standard software APIs.
- Working knowledge of RDBMS and SQL Language. Also, schema-less data stores such as MongoDB, JSON, etc.
- Ability to quickly assess and assimilate key R&D, market, and emerging technology trends related to Digital Products, tools, transitions, analytics, and related trends.
- Ability to identify customer needs and assist with idea generation and filtering processes. Also, have the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a cross-functional format.
- Experience tracking resources, measuring team bandwidth, and assigning technical teammates work.
- Familiarity with writing proposals and the ability to contribute to proposal writing efforts.
- Experience with energy systems is strongly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Superior organizational skills, integrity, and excellent follow-through on tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or technology-related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience as a product developer or engineer, with a strong focus on software development and data-driven solutions.
- Experience managing teams, both directly and indirectly.
- GIS experience would be beneficial.
