Manager, Design & Multimedia

Reporting to the Principal Director, Creative Services & Audience Engagement, the Manager, Design & Multimedia will be responsible for supporting the visual brand and identity of Carnegie Corporation of New York, utilizing best practices in developing and producing design and multimedia across a wide range of products, platforms, and communications.

Salary Range: $83,500 - $90,000

Responsibilities:

Creative Design/Branded Multimedia:

• Visual storytelling that will bring fresh ideas to create compelling, emotional connection between message and audience.
• Distill complex concepts into clear, compelling, and accurate graphics and multimedia for use on digital platforms, channels, and social media.
• Hands-on creation and implementation of best-in-class digital multimedia and video solutions including production of illustrations, infographics, and motion graphics, and other creative materials as needed.
• Project management in the production of design and multimedia assets, sourcing and collaborating with external videographers, video editors, writers, and photographers; ability to coordinate with internal and external clients and related project managers.
  

Brand and Identity Management, Information Design and Production:

• Serve as senior designer for projects as assigned, including stand-alone multimedia, logos, animations, videos, projection graphics, and other digital products such as social media visuals, invitations, and a range of event materials.
• Relationship development across all levels of the organization. Prepared to provide technical assistance as needed and other duties as assigned.
• Creative design for email newsletter system (MailChimp) in collaboration with the communications and program teams.
• Assist with maintenance of the content and digital asset management systems.
  

Workflow Oversight for Design, Presentation, Sign-off, Production and
Documentation:

• Ensures timely delivery for the Corporation’s print and digital products.
  

Qualifications:

• Self-starter with nimble technical skills, who can deliver creative ideas and produce hands-on work to provide multimedia solutions with compelling design aesthetic. Creative and design strategist who can work collaboratively as a solution architect.
• Design thinker who can look at things holistically and has the ability to visually express abstract ideas and concepts in compelling and accessible ways.
• Strong attention to detail and eagerness to explore new technologies and applications, including websites, social media channels, and print publications.
• Highly experienced in visual identity and design standards. Capable of meeting high standards for all projects, overseeing them from concept through delivery in the following disciplines: branding and graphic design (multimedia, digital, print), infographics and data visualization, animation, filming, video editing and photography. Ability to manage outside vendors and offsite design resources as necessary.
• Thought partner in helping to oversee visual branding, logo usage, and style guides; and serve as a creative and design strategist in the collaborative creation and production of the Corporation’s websites, content, presentations, exhibitions, research initiatives, publications, and events.
• Strong knowledge of content management systems/CMS, such as Django and WordPress and technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JAVASCRIPT, and Google Analytics with an eye for new tools, technology and what’s next. Ability to learn and assist in the technical production of digital products.
• Ability to design responsively across desktop and mobile platforms. Well-versed in video editing and the following software programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Final Cut, and Adobe Premiere.
• Strong collaborative spirit and willingness to work with internal and external clients.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in design or related field such as filmmaking, is required. Must have minimum of five years professional experience and a visually compelling portfolio of design and multimedia projects. Design school a plus.
